GRANDE ALLOWS YOU TO USE YOUR OWN MODEM
MINIMUM MODEM REQUIREMENTS
If you wish to use your own equipment, please see the manufacturer’s website for technical specifications. Please note that while some manufacturers indicate they provide a specific range of speeds, they must meet the below downstream and upstream channel recommendations in order to receive optimal Grande internet speeds and ensure compatibility with your service. As technology evolves and network improvements are made, the above recommendations could change at any time. We may not always be able to notify you in advance of changes to these requirements and we reserve the right to update these requirements as needed.
ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS?
Yes. You are not able to use your own modem in these scenarios:

WHERE CAN I PURCHASE AN APPROVED MODEM?
At a local computer/electronics store or online retailer.
I AM A CURRENT CABLE MODEM CUSTOMER. HOW DO I SWITCH TO MY OWN MODEM?
CUSTOMERS WITH A TIVO-POWERED RECEIVER
Purchase a qualified modem based on criteria above from a retailer. When you are ready to install it, please contact Grande Customer Service to schedule a Grande technician who will install your new qualified modem and ensure it connects properly with your TiVo-powered receivers. The technician will also return your Grande cable modem which will stop the monthly rental charges.
CUSTOMERS WHO DO NOT HAVE A TIVO-POWERED RECEIVER
Purchase a qualified modem based on criteria above from a retailer. When you are ready to install it, please contact Grande Customer Service to have the new device added to your account to enable services. You must return your Grande cable modem to your closest Grande office to avoid monthly rental charges.
CAN GRANDE DIGITAL PHONE CUSTOMERS USE THEIR OWN MODEM?
Yes. Customers who use both services can bring their own modem. However, they will still need a Grande EMTA to use Digital Phone service in addition to their own modem. Separate EMTA equipment fees may apply.
IF I NO LONGER WANT TO USE MY OWN MODEM, HOW DO I GET A GRANDE CABLE MODEM AGAIN?
You may pick up a modem at a local Grande office or request a technician installation for an additional fee. Customers who have TiVo-powered receivers may require a technician installation for an additional fee.
CAN I HOOK UP MY OWN PURCHASED MODEM INSTEAD OF PAYING A FEE TO HAVE A GRANDE TECHNICIAN COME TO MY HOME?
Yes. Only if you are a current Grande internet customer who has already had a technician complete your original install and/or do not have a TiVo-powered receiver. Then you can install the modem yourself. You must contact Grande Customer Service to have the new device added to your account to enable services. You must return your Grande cable modem to your closest local office to avoid monthly rental charges. This option is not available to new internet customers or customers with TiVo-powered receivers.
WILL GRANDE SELL THE GRANDE-OWNED MODEM TO ME?
At this time, Grande does not sell any Grande-owned equipment.
